Broncos-Chiefs inactives prove just how loaded Denver's roster is

The Denver Broncos will soon take the field and play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL Season. It's the first Monday Night Football game of the season and the final game of the opening week.

The Broncos have one of the best rosters in the NFL, and one thing that stems from that is the difficulty for rookies to make any sort of impact. Rookies not playing much for certain teams really isn't a bad thing, as it proves that the roster is in a good spot.

And ahead of the team's MNF showdown, the Broncos trotted out their inactives for the game, and it does show just how loaded this roster is.

The Broncos have just one rookie active from their 2026 class, and it's unsurprisingly Jonah Coleman, the running back the Broncos snagged in the fourth round:

Justin Joly is no longer in the picture, and Red Murdock and Miles Scott are on the practice squad. This could likely be how the inactives look for the Broncos for much of the season, but, once again, that is far from a bad thing.

All of Kage Casey, Dallen Bentley, and Tyler Onyedim could have futures as starters or top-tier rotational players for the team, as the 2026 season could be seen as a 'redshirt' year for those three. Coleman being active isn't a surprise - he's clearly going to command some carries, as he can do a bit of everything out of the backfield and did score a ton of praise this offseason.

Denver sports one of the three best rosters in the NFL, and, ideally, the Broncos are able to flex their muscles on Monday Night Football. Having this inactives list does prove that the roster is in a great spot, as a team playing a ton of rookies would indicate that there are some positions that just don't have a ton of veteran clarity.
