The Denver Broncos had another padded practice on Tuesday, and with their second preseason game on Friday, these practices are getting more and more important. The regular season isn't that far away, and with the Broncos facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, the first game of the season might end up being one of the most important.
A huge advantage of the Broncos having offseason practices is that the team might be the most talented in the NFL, so the offense and defense going up against each other sharpens each unit big-time, which is never a bad thing.
But when two explosive, talented units go at it, skirmishes happen, and the chippiness really shines through, and that could not have been more true during Tuesday's practice, the most intense one of the offseason thus far.
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix didn't hold back during the team's practice on Tuesday
There was a rather large fight during the Broncos practice on Tuesday, featuring Bo Nix pulling Nik Bonitto by the leg off of the fight pile:

Nix also got knocked down during a play, which is a big no-no during training camp, but on the very next play, the third-year quarterback hit Courtland Sutton for a big game down the sideline. I mean, this is awesome stuff right here:
Nix knocked to the ground after the pocket collapsed around him. Nik Bonitto and Malcolm Roach were there first

On the next play, Nix hit Sutton down the right sideline as he skied over Moss for a 20+ yard grab
Nix is right in the middle of it all, and he's showing off the edge that you want to see from a franchise QB. Sure, some may have differing opinions of camp fights, but this one does appear to be one that not only pushes the boundaries, but also shows off just how intense and ready to go this team is.
The Denver defense has been a top-3 unit in the sport in each of the last two seasons, also ranking first in sacks each year since 2024 as well. They surely think they're the best group of defenders in the NFL, and the offense itself boasts a ton of elite talent.
Now, yes, the one thing you don't want during an offseason camp practice if for the QB to get hit, so that's something that the Broncos defense simply has to stop, but the competitive juices are absolutely flowing, proving that this team is more than ready for a real opponent.
As for Nix, he does have a lot on the line this year. Not only was his 2025 season cut short unexpectedly, but he's eligible for a major payday following the 2026 season, so he has a ton of money on the line.
But with Nix having just wrapped up his ankle recovery, I can't imagine how frustrated he has to be when he gets hit when he's not supposed to. All in all, though, the edge was more than present on Tuesday.
