It needs to continue.

The Denver Broncos have their second-straight matchup against an NFC West foe in Week 4, as they travel to San Francisco to face the undefeated 49ers, a team that is both getting some awesome play from both sides of the ball but is also quite banged up.

Denver can win this game, as the 49ers aren't quite as good as the Los Angeles Rams and might be due for a letdown game given how prolific the offense has been through three weeks. As we have experienced for well over a year now, this should be a close game, as the Broncos don't seem to know how to play in a different type of game.

And while it's been talked about a lot, it's again worth mentioning just how good this team has been against the NFC, and that includes quarterback Bo Nix.

Denver Broncos need Bo Nix's NFC dominance to show up in Week 4

The Nix-led Broncos own a 10-1 record against the NFC, and this includes 10 wins in a row. The lone NFC loss game in Nix's first career NFL start against the Seattle Seahawks back in the 2024 NFL Season. Across his 11-game career against the NFC, Nix has produced at a rather high level:

262/405 (64.7 percent)
2,686 yards
21 touchdowns
5 interceptions
95.8 passer rating

268 rushing yards
6 rushing touchdowns

Nix's production stands out big-time. If we take his numbers over a 17-game season for better context, this is what he'd have:

405/626
4,151 yards
32 touchdowns
8 interceptions

414 rushing yards
9 rushing touchdowns

Nix is on a 41-touchdown pace against the NFC thus far, and given the schedule rotation this year, the Broncos are playing the entirety of the NFC West, so now is the time for this NFC dominance to continue, as the NFC West might just be the best division in football.

The 49ers are also on fire thus far, as they rank 2nd in points per game and 3rd in points allowed per game. While the 49ers have played Miami and Arizona the past two weeks, winning football is winning football.

And given how tight the AFC playoff race could end up being, the Broncos could end up needing every single one of however many games they win this year, as that was the case in 2025. It's really not clear why the team is just so good against the NFC, but it's a thing that has remained the case into the team's third year with Nix at the helm.

And we're to the point now where playing an NFC foe is a near guaranteed win. While there is a strong possibility that Denver simply loses this game, the trend goes in their favor, and Nix's dominance against the NFC needs to continue more than ever in Week 4, as the team is still right in the heart of their six-game gauntlet to begin the season.
