Without the late-game heroics of Bo Nix, the Denver Broncos don't win 14 games during the regular season. Nix led the NFL with seven game-winning drives in the 2025 NFL Season, and while some argue that the Broncos were trailing a ton of games because of Nix, it seems like that argument bears more weight than his being able to will this team to victory.
The Broncos weren't trailing in most games because Nix was bad or inefficient or anything - it was a mixture of a lot of factors. The offense didn't seem to get off on the right foot some weeks, and there were genuine issues with the play-calling and sequencing of those plays at times.
And when J.K. Dobbins went down, the run game cratered, so saying the quarterback was the main factor in Denver trailing a ton last year is simply untrue, but what is true is just how clutch he's become, and that was actually evidenced on the practice field on Friday.

Near the end of Friday's practice, there was a simulated in-game scenario of a two-minute drill, and Cody Roark summarize it and what happened perfectly:

Nix drove offense down the field and found Evan Engram for a score with 18 seconds left to take lead.

I mean, this is the good stuff, and it lines right up with what we all saw during the 2025 season, and even into the playoffs. The Broncos were actually horrendous in one-score, late-game situations in 2024, but they took a major leap in the right direction in 2025.
Perhaps being in those close games in 2024 and losing many of them helped build up that callous to perform better in 2025. Whatever the reason is, it's nice to see that it's still present with the offense. And in today's NFL, it feels like there's never been more parity than there is now, so being in close games is a guarantee.
This becomes especially true in the playoffs - the Broncos aren't going to be blowing out teams in the postseason, and winning in blowout fashion just isn't a sustainable way of winning in this league. It's actually much more sustainable to win those closer games than to rely on winning by double-digits overall.
Anyway, Nix and this offense continually found a way to get it done in 2025. It felt like magic at times, but it also could simply mean this team rises to the challenge and is coached for the situations. Heck, today's example in practice is what I'm talking about.
It's also great that the Broncos are running these simulated two-minute drill periods, as it does help both sides of the ball, not just the offense. Nix being able to lead the Broncos offense to a 'win' here during Friday's practice was a great development and could be a sign of things to come in 2026.
