This will be an interesting situation to keep tabs on because Brett Kern might be the Eagles’ punter on Sunday night, but he also might not.

Kern has been in the league so long that it may be forgotten that he was once the punter for the Broncos but he was, all the way back in 2008 and 2009. As an undrafted player out of Toledo, Kern beat out Sam Paulescu for the punting job.

He kicked well for the team in the two seasons he was there and despite having the third-highest average yards per punt in league history, the Broncos moved on from him in favor of Britton Colquitt halfway through the 2009 season.

Kern was picked up by the Tennessee Titans and he proceeded to kick there for over a decade. Kern finally lost that job this past summer when he was beaten out by Colorado State’s Ryan Stonehouse.

But when Eagles starting punter Arryn Siposs went down with injury in Week 14, the team signed the veteran Kern and he has been kicking there ever since, landing in the Super Bowl.

There is a chance that Siposs will return to the lineup for this game and you can bet he’s pushing himself to do so. If that is the case, it will be the end of the road for Kern but if not, the former Broncos punter will be getting a well-deserved chance to kick in the biggest game of his career.
