Under no circumstances should these Broncos be back in 2023

Under no circumstances should these Broncos be back in ’23

Dalton Risner, Guard

Dalton Risner is not good at playing guard in the NFL.  According to spotrac.com, Risner’s market value this year, as he is a free agent, is $9.5 million per season.  Yeah, no thanks.  While the fourth-year guard is competent against the run, he’s a massive liability in pass protection and is one of the main reasons why the offensive line has not been strong in recent years.

Dalton Risner is a sensational person off the field, and I think there are some fans who are conflating Risner the man with Risner the player.  They are two separate entities, and Risner the player is not someone who should continue with the Broncos going forward.

He’s got slow feet and did end up on his rear end quite a few times this year.  He also routinely gets blown by in pass protection and I’ve noticed times when he’s failed to pick up on defensive stunts.

There should be a good bit of stronger options in free agency for the Broncos to try and sign to replace what they were able to get out of Risner.  Names like Isaac Seumalo and Wes Schweitzer intrigue me as replacements on the left side.
