Three potential cap casualties for Broncos to monitor

Shaq Mason, G, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the best guards in the entire NFL could potentially be available this coming offseason, as his current team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are over $50 million over the cap number this season, and by cutting Shaq Mason, they could save $8.5 million against their cap.

This is the highest amount of savings they could have by cutting Mason for the duration of his contract.  It’s unlikely that they’d be able to get a trade off given his contractual situation.

Mason would be an upgrade on the offensive line for most teams.  He’s played for the Patriots and Buccaneers, all with Tom Brady.

He’s missed just 10 games in eight years and was a fourth-round draft pick back in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Pairing Mason with Quinn Meinerz and perhaps a fresh face at center would create a very nasty and skilled trio on the interior.

The Denver Broncos need to invest heavily in their offensive line this offseason, and potentially signing Shaq Mason would be an excellent move.
