3 Denver Broncos under contract in 2023 fans want to move on from: K.J. Hamler, wide receiver

The best ability is availability. That’s one of the most common sayings in all of sports. Unfortunately, Denver Broncos wide receiver K.J. Hamler hasn’t shown through three NFL seasons that he is dependable when it comes to health.

Of a possible 49 career games (two 16-game seasons and a 17-game season), Hamler has only been healthy for 23 of them, which is less than half of all possible games. The Broncos are already struggling at the wideout position. They need to find someone who is able to make a contribution on the field on a consistent basis.

I hate to make injuries an excuse for this sort of thing, but facts are facts. Hamler has just 42 receptions in the games he has played in. The real kicker here is that 30 of those receptions came in his rookie season. He just hasn’t been much of a contributor over the last two seasons and that’s not going to fly.

With a new head coach and coaching staff in place, I expect Hamler to be on a short leash at this point in his career.
