Concluding the 2022 NFL season, the Denver Broncos have 23 pending free agents. Who should the law firm of Paton and Payton try to re-sign?
Let’s take a look at three players who are likely to be re-signed shortly after the new coaching staff — led by Sean Payton — is finalized.
3 players the Denver Broncos could re-sign quickly in 2023 offseason
1. Alex Singleton, linebacker
When George Paton signed Alex Singleton to a one-year deal for just $1.1 million last offseason, I bet he would’ve liked to tack an extra couple of years on that deal.
After leading the Philadelphia Eagles in tackles the prior two seasons before joining the Denver Broncos, Alex Singleton replicated his success with the Denver Broncos. Singleton had a monstrous season for the Denver Broncos with 163 total tackles.
Singleton had one of the best seasons for any Denver Broncos linebacker. That includes recent greats like Al Wilson and D.J. Williams. Alex Singleton was expected to come in and help the special teams unit and play if needed, but after a season-ending injury to Jonas Griffith, Singleton was pressed into a major role for the Broncos’ defense.
Singleton played well and exceeded the expectations of everyone involved. On two different occasions this season, Singleton had 20+ tackles. As an inside linebacker, you must have a constant motor, and a true desire to get to the football.
You don’t get to 20 tackles in one game without having that motor.
During an appearance on the DNVR podcast, Singleton was asked if he wanted to return to the Denver Broncos and he said “oh yeah.” That is a good sign for the Denver Broncos. Paton & Payton need to make Singleton a priority this offseason.
