If you would have told me that Latavius Murray would lead the Broncos in rushing during the 2022 season, I would have looked at you like you were nuts. But after Melvin “I never had a chance” Gordon could not stop fumbling and Javonte Williams had a significant knee injury, the Denver Broncos had to look elsewhere for production.

Digging him off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad, Latavius Murray came in and played with consistency and a motor. While he isn’t a game-breaker, nor does he possess game-breaker-type speed, Murray does provide a reliable pocket that does not put the football on the ground.

His prior experience with the Broncos, Sean Payton, and George Paton makes him an ideal fit to rejoin the Broncos for the upcoming season. Murray reached out to Sean Payton around Christmas implying he wanted him to come to help the Denver Broncos.

Javonte Williams is likely to miss time at the beginning of the 2023 NFL season. Having a steady hand until Williams gets up to speed will be vital to the offense getting off to a hot start. Re-signing Latavius Murray should not cost the Denver Broncos a fortune.

Adding a player like Saquon Barkley or Tony Pollard would be a ton of fun, but the Denver Broncos have other needs that should be fed first, especially considering how Murray played this season. He would be well worth the investment.

Re-sign Murray on a one-year deal with some incentives and draft a young running back to join the group and call it a day for the running back room.
