3 underrated players that could follow Sean Payton to Broncos

Sean Payton likely has a ton of players in mind that he’d love to lure to the Denver Broncos, but are there any underrated candidates?  Seeing as the Broncos do not have a ton of draft capital, they figure to be one of the most active teams in this coming free agency period.

George Paton and Sean Payton will likely soon get to work in formulating a plan to make the Denver Broncos a competitive team starting this year.  While it may not go all to plan, and the team is surely going to miss out on some players, having a structured plan in place will only benefit the team.

Sean Payton not only brings coaching expertise, but also brings a history of working with countless players that he could possibly lure to the Broncos.

We know of the big-name players, but what about some more underrated ones who could still help the Broncos?

Jared Cook, TE

Jared Cook played for the New Orleans Saints in 2019 and 2020.  In those two years, Cook had 1,209 yards and 16 touchdowns.  He was very much a threat, even though he was in his 30s.  Cook is a speedy, hyper-athletic tight end who stands at a whopping 6’6″ tall.

He’s a true red zone threat and a tight end that the Broncos could use in their room, which could feature both Greg Dulcich and Albert Okwuegbunam.

Also, this could be a great example of the team simply adding yet another pass catcher to make life hard for opposing defenses.

Russell Wilson may need all the help he can get, and a quality, veteran tight end could be a huge boost.
