Broncos free agency: Going all in for the 2023 season

Move #4: Throw a bag at Dre’Mont Jones, Jessie Bates III, and David Onyemata

I’m just being greedy at this point, but why the heck not, it’s my article.

The first move is to re-sign Dre’Mont Jones, and I’d think that a contract extension would be somewhere around $15 million per year, which is perfectly fine for the type of player that Jones is.

He’s a pass-rush threat from the inside and is stellar against the run as well.  He’s truly a complete player at the position.

The second move is to throw a bag at current Bengals’ safety Jessie Bates III.  The Bengals did draft some pieces for their secondary in last year’s draft, so I do think they were already preparing for Bates to depart in 2023.

The Broncos could pair Bates with Justin Simmons and create, yet again, the best secondary in football.

The last move is to sign someone who Sean Payton is familiar with, and that’s defensive tackle David Onyemata, who has double-digit QB hits in each of the last four seasons and 23.0 sacks in seven seasons played.

He’s pretty solid and I think would be an upgrade over DeShawn Williams.  The defense may need a little boost since Ejiro Evero is gone, and I think these moves provide that.
