Now that the Denver Broncos have some clarity with their head coaching search, let’s look at three moves the team needs to focus on in 2023 NFL free agency.  Given that the Broncos gave up two more high draft picks for a head coach in Sean Payton, it’s safe to say that the team is likely going all-in.

They won’t pick until the third round in 2023 unless something changes, and they have a clear path to free up $30-$40 million worth of cap space if they wanted to.  They will need to do this, as they are positioned to be heavy players in free agency.

From signing current projected free agents to even targeting some potential cap casualties, the Denver Broncos will need to have a strong free agency period to put the finishing touches on what could be a super competitive team.

Throwing big money at a right tackle

It’s not likely the Broncos trade for any players this offseason unless they cost very little.  For that reason, they probably won’t be able to trade for a competent right tackle.  For that reason, the team should focus on throwing big money at this position in free agency.

Two players that come to mind for me are Kaleb McGary of the Atlanta Falcons and Mike McGlinchey of the San Francisco 49ers.  Both are projected free agents in 2023 and both are the top players at right tackle on the market.

I think Denver needs to work their tails off to land one of these players.  It’s about time that the right tackle position gets the attention it deserves and becomes settled for years.
