2. Dre’Mont Jones or Alex Singleton, 2023 free agents

Not that I think Dre’Mont Jones or Alex Singleton will follow Nathaniel Hackett into the dark, but if Ejiro Evero is going to choose loyalty to Hackett over sticking with the Denver Broncos, then it stands to reason that the Broncos could lose one or both of their top defensive free agents in 2023 to wherever Evero lands.

For that matter, if the Broncos aren’t the team that lands Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator, they could wind up losing Dre’Mont Jones to wherever Vic lands, too.

So, let’s recap: Hackett is fired. Ejiro Evero is loyal to his pal. If Ejiro Evero goes and becomes the head coach of a team like the Colts or Cardinals, you think they’re not going to try to sign a guy like Dre’Mont Jones or Alex Singleton?

What if the Broncos do land Fangio, and Evero ends up getting hired by the Vikings? You don’t think Evero is going to try to bring one or both of these guys with him to Minneapolis?

I think there’s a very real chance that, because the Broncos fired Hackett, they could lose Evero in the process. And if they lose Evero, they could end up losing some of their prominent in-house free agents on the defensive side of the ball.

Some of these guys commented on how this was the most fun defense they’ve ever played in. I don’t think they’re just pumping fluff — I think these players genuinely loved playing for Evero. We’ll see what the fallout might end up being here.
