Broncos 2023 New Year’s resolution: Apply major resources to fixing the offensive line

The Broncos’ offensive line has been mediocre at times this season and completely terrible at others. The team must address this unit in a major way this offseason.

Dalton Risner, Calvin Anderson, Cam Fleming, Tom Compton and Billy Turner are all scheduled to become unrestricted free agents. It’s tough to make a case for any of those guys to be back, outside of maybe Anderson or Fleming as a reserve tackle.

Mike McGlinchey, Justin Pugh and Ethan Pocic are all players that the team should be keeping tabs on in free agency. The first-round pick that was acquired in the Bradley Chubb deal should also be used on an offensive lineman, likely the best tackle prospect on the board when that pick comes up.

The Broncos will also have questions about the players on the roster that aren’t entering free agency. Garett Bolles will be coming off a season-ending injury and the team may need to find a better option at center than Lloyd Cushenberry.

A ridiculous penalty hurt the Broncos’ upset bid against the Chiefs on Sunday, but poor play by the offensive line was what really cost the team a chance at victory.
