5 things Broncos must find out before season ends
Broncos must decide if Nathaniel Hackett is retainable
The most obvious item on this list, the Broncos will take the next five games to decide the future of head coach Nathaniel Hackett, if that decision has not already been made.
No team is going to want to fire a coach after just one year. It rarely happens, but has any first-year head coach ever been worse than Hackett?
He has not only lost nine games in an embarrassing fashion, but it is also hard to imagine what he could do in order to justify sticking around. If the only thing going for him is that he’s in his first year, that is just not good enough.
During this incredibly bad season, he has had to hire a consultant to help him with managing the game. He has had to give up his duties as a play caller. None of those decisions have changed much of anything.
Something is going to have to change drastically in these last five games for Hackett to even have an argument to be kept around. However, the team needs to start lining up potential replacements as soon as possible because there may not be an ideal option out there either.
Sean Payton is a fun name, but it’s not going to happen.
