The Denver Broncos are likely going to fire Nathaniel Hackett at some point. So, which coaches make the most sense to lead the team in 2023? This coming offseason might be one of, if not the most important one in team history. The Russell Wilson experiment has gotten off to a terrible start, and the main problem, Nathaniel Hackett, will be fired at the end of the season at the latest.
Thus, the Broncos will have to find a new head coach, which would make it five different coaches since 2016 beginning in the 2023 season. There just has not been any continuity with the staffs since Peyton Manning retired and Gary Kubiak stepped down.
Seeing how big of a disaster Hackett has been, I actually think that gives the team’s front office a much better chance at getting this next coaching hire right. Their last three coaches have been first-time hires, and none have worked out.
Common sense would probably tell you that the new head coach of the Broncos will be someone who has that kind of experience beforehand. The search is likely going to be very thorough and will likely feature coaches at the college level, NFL level, and on both sides of the ball.
So, who would be the five best candidates to replace Nathaniel Hackett as the Broncos’ head coach in 2023?

5. Doug Marrone, Offensive Line Coach, New Orleans Saints
A solid choice to be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos is Doug Marrone, who currently serves as the OL coach of the New Orleans Saints. Marrone, 58, began his NFL coaching career in 2002 with the New York Jets. He’s primarily been an OL coach but has served as the head coach at Syracuse, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Buffalo Bills.
He was the coach when the Jags when 10-6 and clinched a spot in the AFC title game in 2017. He was the offensive line coach of Alabama in 2021 and serves in that same role with the Saints. He’s a veteran coach and an offensive mind with over 20 years of experience in the NFL as a coach and player.
He would not be the best hire by far but someone who I think could right the ship for the Broncos.
