The Denver Broncos are 3-9 and an absolutely terrible football team. Which players on the roster should not return to the team in 2023?  I would guess that one of the hardest things for an NFL front office to do is to trade/cut players.  It’s a business at the end of the day, but sending someone packing has to hurt them a little bit.

The Broncos have a chunk of players who simply should not return to the team in 2023.  Obviously, some free agent additions like Billy Turner and Tom Compton aren’t likely to return, but I am more angling toward players who have made more of an impact for the team or have stronger name recognition within the organization.

The Broncos’ got quite the player when they took Dalton Risner in the 2019 NFL Draft, or so they thought.  He was great during his rookie season and gave the team some hope for the future.  In the last three years, though, he has been at a replacement level and is a free agent at the end of the season.

He commented on the team not offering him a contract extension and seemed quite surprised by that.  Unfortunately, he has been a moderate disaster for the Broncos since the beginning of his second season.

He can’t sustain blocks and gets beaten in protection quite a bit.  Denver can likely find someone just as good late in the free agency process if they wanted to go that route.
