Denver Broncos sleeper no. 3: Jalen Virgil, WR

Denver Broncos fans have been absolutely screaming to see Jalen Virgil since his outstanding preseason performance. The excitement over the undrafted rookie out of Appalachian State was validated against the Tennessee Titans as he had one of the most explosive plays of the entire season for the Denver Broncos on his first NFL catch.

This play was so great to see for a multitude of reasons. First of all, it was a conversion on third down. Second of all, Jalen Virgil finally got the ball. Third of all, any form of competent offense by the Denver Broncos these days is more than welcome.

This play, unfortunately, didn’t really spark much else for the Denver offense throughout the game and it was the only target for the rookie on the day, which is really sad when you consider he was on the field for 24 snaps.

The Broncos haven’t really activated Virgil much this season, but with injuries to KJ Hamler and Jerry Jeudy, the team is going to have to rely on him a little bit more. Against the Raiders, the Denver wide receiver group is going to consist of the team’s preseason stars. Besides WR1 Courtland Sutton, you’re going to see guys like Virgil, Kendall Hinton, Montrell Washington, and perhaps another preseason star like Brandon Johnson will get called up for this game.

If you want a really deep sleeper for this week against the Raiders, perhaps Johnson will get called up.

At any rate, Jalen Virgil should see more opportunities with three of the top four receivers on the team down (including Tim Patrick) and if the Broncos are going to win, I wouldn’t be surprised if Virgil is a huge reason why.
