Denver Broncos sleeper no. 2: Jacob Martin, EDGE

The Denver Broncos traded away Bradley Chubb at the deadline, and despite the fact that the team already had really solid depth off the edge, they went and made another move with the New York Jets to further fortify that depth. The move they made with the Jets was to acquire Jacob Martin, a Colorado native who was once drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and included as an upside dart throw in the Jadeveon Clowney trade between Seattle and Houston a few years back.

Since that time, Martin has proven himself as a very useful special teams player as well as presence off the edge at times. Despite having limited defensive snaps throughout his career, Martin has caused some serious havoc for opposing quarterbacks and has racked up 29 QB hits, 17 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles in five seasons.

More recently, Martin is on a bit of a hot streak at getting to the quarterback in 2022. He has a QB hit in three of his last four games and a sack in consecutive games. Did the Broncos steal someone here at the trade deadline?

Perhaps in Ejiro Evero’s defense and with some increased responsibilities off the edge, Martin could really be something for the Denver Broncos. If you look just at his game against Tennessee, you’re going to see a guy who is perhaps coming into his own as an NFL edge player.

He had a sack, QB hit, and TFL against the Titans.

Martin has made an early impression and after having some instant success against the Titans, don’t be shocked if Martin is a huge reason why the Broncos get a win against the Las Vegas Raiders, if that actually ends up happening.
