The AFC West is yet again shaping up to be a division dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs. What do the standings look like after week 10?  The AFC West is actually turning out to be one of the more weaker divisions in football after it was hyped up in the offseason as being perhaps the best division in NFL history.

Three teams– the Chargers, Broncos, and Raiders are all massively underperforming, and perhaps the three most disappointing teams in the NFL this year are in this division.  Three teams lost their week 10 games as each team was in action.

What do the division standings look like as we head toward the back half of the season?

AFC West standings after week 10 of the 2022 season

Kansas City Chiefs (7-2)

The Chiefs are the Chiefs again.  The offense is deadly and the defense does just enough to win.  They have scored 67 more points than the second best scoring offense in the division.  With Buffalo looking a bit shaky the past few weeks, the Chiefs all of a sudden look to be the best team in the AFC.

It sure does look like they are on their way to a No.1 or No. 2 seed in the AFC for the 54th consecutive year.  Patrick Mahomes is enjoying yet another MVP caliber season.

2. Los Angeles Chargers (5-4)

The Chargers have a winning record but look and feel nothing like a winning football team.  They, like another team in the division, are ravaged by injuries.  They also have the worst point differential in the division at -28.

Justin Herbert isn’t doing too well in Joe Lombardi’s offense this year, and changes seem to be on the horizon unless head coach Brandon Staley can coach this team to a better finished on-field product.

3. Denver Broncos (3-6)

The Denver Broncos perhaps came into this season with the best roster they’ve fielded since the 2015 season and somehow look like the worst team in the post-Manning years.  This season likely marks the seventh straight year that the team will miss the playoffs, which is easily the longest streak in the AFC West and could be the longest streak in all the NFL.

The Broncos’ defense is literally the best in the NFL, and their offense is literally the worst.  You’d think then that the team would be closer to .500, but they are not.  The team is likely looking at a third head coach in as many seasons.

4. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)

If nothing else, the Raiders still stink!  The Josh McDaniels-led Raiders team is atrocious, constantly blowing leads and playing poor defense.  Unfortunately, one of the team’s wins this season came against the Denver Broncos, and the two are playing each other on Sunday.

Next. This is the biggest knock on Nathaniel Hackett. dark

Side note: I turn 25 on Sunday and would love to see a Broncos’ victory, especially against the Raiders.  Should I have any confidence that the team can get it done?
