On Wednesday, Bleacher Report released an article on the next NFL head coaches to be fired, and they made a bold prediction for the Broncos.

I think the end of this situation would make nearly all of the fanbase happy.  Bleacher Report went through and predicted the next head coaches to be fired and who they thought would replace them.

Names like Dan Quinn, Mike Kafka, and DeMeco Ryans all made the cut in this piece, and for good reason.  Like each year, there are a ton of quality head coaching candidates that will get an opportunity to run their own team.

However, this year could be different.  Sean Payton stepped down as head coach of the Saints after the 2021 season, and has entertained the idea of returning to coaching for 2023.  Perhaps the Super Bowl winning coach just needed a year to recharge.

Well, Bleacher Report seems to think that not only will the Denver Broncos fire Nathaniel Hackett, but hire Sean Payton after that.  It would be a dream scenario for obvious reasons.  The first reason is that Hackett no longer coaches the Denver Broncos, barring a massive turnaround.

It’s still possible but I don’t think it’s likely.  The next step in this process has two pieces:

The first piece is Sean Payton being interested in coaching the Broncos, and the second piece is the Broncos being able to bid for his services.

Payton might not want to coach the Broncos, which could blow this entire scenario up, but if he does, Denver would then likely have to get into a bidding war to acquire his services.  Some have said it may take a first round pick to get him, and fortunately, the Broncos have one of those after they traded Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins.

George Paton would likely make this deal if that’s all it took.  I do think it’ll take more than a first round pick to get Sean Payton, but you never know.  This would be a monumental success if George Paton would be able to pull this off.
