Jerry Jeudy has become more involved in the Broncos’ offense over the last several games. Is he emerging as the actual WR1 for the team? Jerry Jeudy is on pace to have the best season of his career, and I think could be emerging as something bigger as well.
The third year player had a nice rookie season, but fell flat a bit in year two with an injury and inconsistent play. Now in year three, Jeudy has seen a heavier involvement in the offense. Sunday against the Jaguars was more of that. He caught six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown pass.
Not pop-of-the-page numbers, but check out his stats from the last five games:
- four catches, 53 yards, one TD
- three catches, 53 yards
- seven catches, 96 yards
- six catches, 63 yards, one TD
Over the last five games, Jeudy has caught 23 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns.
Let’s just say that Jeudy were to keep this pace for an entire season. This five game stretch extrapolated over a 17 game season would be:
- 78 catches, 1,085 yards, 7 TDS
Yeah, Jeudy has found his groove in the offense. Russell Wilson seems to be targeting him more, and it’s paying off. Another note to make is that aside from weeks two and three where he had one catch for 11 yards and two catches for 17 yards, Jeudy has had at least 53 receiving yards in each game.
So, six out of his eight games this year have gone for at least three catches for 53 yards. This is really nice production from Jeudy, and is on pace to have 64 catches, 954 yards, and six touchdowns on the 2022 season.
Maybe Jeudy won’t be the guy who put up 1,400 yards a season like Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase. Maybe this is what Jerry Jeudy does in the NFL. Courtland Sutton is still the better receiver overall in my opinion, but Jeudy is pleading his case to take that honor.
Over the last three games, Sutton has caught six passes for 50 yards. Jeudy has been outpacing Sutton by quite a bit the past several games, and even Greg Dulcich is getting more involved in the passing game than Sutton has.
Jerry Jeudy has been stellar over the last five games and is someone the Broncos should keep at the trade deadline.
