Broncos are being approached about trading top players
The Denver Broncos are continually coming up as a team that could be active ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline.
The trade deadline is under two weeks away and the Broncos are looking more and more like a team that could (and definitely should) be a seller. Games in Week 7 against the New York Jets and Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars could definitely decide the future of some of the team’s star players.
If the Broncos lose even one of those games, trading some major players must be considered.
Ahead of kickoff in Week 7, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Broncos have been receiving trade offers for several players. These are calls that general manager George Paton must be listening closely to as it could be a good way to recoup some of the assets lost in what has so far been a miserable acquisition of Russell Wilson.
Among the names that Schefter mentioned were Bradley Chubb, Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler.
It would be a shame to see Chubb go as he has been one of the few bright spots this year, but he would undoubtedly fetch the biggest return of these three players. Paton moved Von Miller in a deal last season so he is not afraid to act on a move such as this.
Jeudy and Hamler were taken with the team’s first two draft picks in 2020, a questionable decision at the time, and neither has come close to meeting expectations. If the Broncos can get even a suitable offer for these guys, it needs to be considered.
Trading both Jeudy and Hamler would leave the Broncos extremely thin at wide receiver but it could also give the team a chance to get a better look at younger options such as Jalen Virgil and Brandon Johnson. Montrell Washington could become a bigger part of the offense as well.
This will be a situation to monitor over the next week or so, and depending on the result of Sunday’s home game against the Jets, those talks to get even more serious.
