Denver Broncos 5 bold predictions for Monday showdown with Chargers
4. Denver Broncos OL plays its best game of the year
Considering nobody knows what the Denver Broncos offensive line alignment is going to be against the Chargers on Monday night, this might be the boldest prediction of them all. Garett Bolles is obviously on IR with a broken leg. Billy Turner practiced on a limited basis this week and is questionable for the game, but even if he played, would he play left or right tackle?
The expectation as of right now is that Cam Fleming would still start at right tackle with Calvin Anderson at the left tackle position, and the Broncos could be getting a significant reinforcement on the line with Quinn Meinerz coming back after being a full participant in Saturday’s practice. Especially if Meinerz can come back and play,
5. Someone gets their first career interception
Whether it’s rookie cornerback Damarri Mathis, maybe Baron Browning or PJ Locke — somebody…Somebody is getting their first career interception in this game. There are plenty of candidates and the Broncos have been doing such a good job of making life difficult for opposing quarterbacks lately. They have turned more of their tremendous pressure into sacks and fumbles than interceptions but Justin Herbert is supremely confident in his arm and his ability to fit the ball into tight windows.
And rightfully so.
In this game, however, he doesn’t have Keenan Allen in all likelihood, and he could find himself in a bit of trouble throwing consistently at a guy like rookie Damarri Mathis, who plays aggressively.
