The Denver Broncos suffered yet another sloppy loss, this time to the Las Vegas Raiders. Are the Broncos good at anything through four weeks?  They committed seven penalties.  They allowed another three sacks.  The rush defense was nowhere to be found.  The offense wasn’t consistent.  Our kicker missed another field goal.  The team was 27% on third down.

Are the 2022 Denver Broncos good at anything after four weeks?  It’s like we’re watching the same exact team that graced our televisions from 2016-2021.  The Broncos cycled through quarterbacks and head coaches and finally seemed to land on a decent combination of Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett for 2022.

The Denver Broncos look like a mess four weeks in

It’s abundantly clear that the team is nothing short of a mess after four weeks.  The alleged elite defense the Broncos had was gauged on the ground today.  The Raiders’ Josh Jacobs rushed for nearly 150 yards, and Derek Carr, who isn’t exactly known for his mobility, rushed for 40.

The play-calling was off all day.  It’s clear Nathaniel Hackett had no rhythm going with the offense.  Russell Wilson was efficient through the air but wasn’t able to consistently deliver through the air for all four quarters.

I’m not sure there’s a single positive to take from this game.  And to make matters worse, Josh McDaniels got his first win as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.  I’m not even sure why I should be surprised.  The product that the Denver Broncos’ fanbase saw on the field on Sunday was identical to what the fans have watched for the last half-decade.

Spurts of promising football only to be negated by poor play.  Big gains are negated by penalties.  Poor play-calling when it mattered most.  The defense is not able to get a stop when it mattered most.  The 2022 Denver Broncos are a poorly coached football team, and it’s unfortunate that we as fans have to be subjected to this nonsense on our TV.

To make matters worse, the team is playing on Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts.  Perhaps the team will get a bit better overall later in the season, but one quarter of the season has already gone by, and the returns have been disgusting.
