Broncos need to run the ball inside the 5-yard line
This is something the team needs to start doing more of going forward as the idea of lining up in shotgun from the 1-yard line is just not working.
The 49ers might have the best front seven in the league, so running it right at them might not lead to the most success, but the Broncos need to begin to develop a power-rushing attack in goal-to-go situations.
The team has been horrendous in the red zone and it just needs to lean more on the running game. Both Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon can get the tough yards and the playcalling down in that area has just not been great.
Inside the 5-yard line, the Broncos need to get out of shotgun and out of the RPO plays and line up with a single back or even in the I-formation and just try to grind it into the end zone. Then, as the season progresses, they can begin to use those formations for some play-action and allow Russell Wilson to use his mobility on a bootleg, for example, to catch a defense off guard.
