3 49ers players the Denver Broncos need to watch out for
Denver Broncos should watch out for George Kittle on Sunday
George Kittle was apparently very close to playing in week two for the 49ers. There is now heavy optimism that he’ll suit up in week three. When the Denver Broncos last played the 49ers in 2018, George Kittle had the best game of his career, catching seven receptions for 210 yards and a touchdown.
It was an absolute clinic put on by Kittle, and I believe this was the game he had the 85-yard touchdown, which is the longest reception of his career. George Kittle is injury prone, and him suiting up on Sunday doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be 100%.
Even if he’s 80%, he’s still the most complete tight end in football. He can block at a high level and is an insane athlete. He’ll be 29 this year, so he is getting up there in age a little bit. I’d also say that he and Jimmy Garoppolo probably share the best chemistry on the team.
If Kittle is playing, I’d expect Garoppolo to target him early and often. Garoppolo completes a high percentage of his passes, and Kittle has been targeted over 100 times in two seasons during his career. The Denver Broncos were able to adequately cover tight ends in the Vic Fangio era, but it’s still something that has plagued them from time to time.
