Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans: What to Watch For

Broncos Defense May Have Off Week in Their First Game Without Simmons

Though the Broncos’ defense has the capability in their safety depth to survive a few weeks without Simmons, it will not be an easy task, and it may take the team some time to settle in without their star defensive player.

Not only are the Broncos going without some of their top defensive production, they will also be without one of their biggest leaders, a double-edged sword. While the team adjusts to temporary life without Justin Simmons, they may allow more points in this game than they typically would have.

Jerry Jeudy Could Have a Big Time

Broncos fans who waited for justice for Jerry Jeudy after the 2021 season quickly had their vindication erased in the season opener last week as Jeudy caught his first touchdown pass of the season in quick fashion.

While it is clear Russell Wilson will have no problem spreading the ball out, look for Jerry Jeudy to have a big game against the Houston Texans. With PFF ranking the Texans’ current secondary personnel dead last in the NFL, there is a potential for the Broncos’ wide receivers to have a big day. Though Texans boast third-overall pick in Derek Stingley Jr at cornerback, this is a secondary unit that should still be easily outmatched by the weapons the Denver Broncos have in their receiving corps.

Look to Jerry Jeudy as the potential-stat leader of the day, and he may get into the end zone more than once.
