Three biggest concerns for Denver Broncos in 2022

Will the receivers be enough without Tim Patrick?

Right now, the Denver Broncos only have one proven receiver on their roster in Courtland Sutton.  Both Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler are promising, but they haven’t really proven that in the NFL so far.  Behind them, it’s even more uncertain, with a mixture of unproven veterans and rookies.

If Jerry Jeudy needs to miss time, for example, can the likes of KJ Hamler, Montrell Washington, and Tyrie Cleveland step up?  I think the Broncos’ receivers have some of the highest potential in the NFL, but nothing has been set in stone for them yet.

Tim Patrick gave the team another security blanket who had proved himself to be a very effective player.  With Patrick down, the Broncos have only been able to count on Courtland Sutton.  I do think that Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler will end up being just fine, but the team hasn’t played any games yet, so it’s a reasonable concern right now.

I would have loved for Denver to have brought a receiver in when Tim Patrick went down.  I think George Paton focuses too much on the “next man up” mentality sometimes, and because of that mentality, the receiver room is being held together by a veteran who tore his ACL in 2020, a third-year player who hasn’t put it together yet, a receiver who still isn’t 100% from his ACL injury, two rookies, and an unproven veteran player.
