Ranking offensive lines in the AFC West for 2022

2. Los Angeles Chargers, Projected lineup: LT Rashawn Slater, LG Matt Feiler, C Corey Linsley, RG Zion Johnson, RT Trey Pipkins

The Chargers have a slight edge over the Broncos for the second-best offensive line in the AFC West.  Rashawn Slater, their left tackle, was elite as a rookie, and their center is perhaps the best in the game.  The team also invested a high draft pick on Zion Johnson.

Matt Feiler is a solid left guard, but they also have some questions at right tackle, and they’ve had this issue for a while, much like the Broncos.  Justin Herbert is an elite player, so the unit will end up being just fine, but it’s interesting to see what the Chargers do at right tackle because I actually think the Broncos will end up in a much better spot at this position.

I ranked the Chargers higher because I think their ceiling as a unit is a bit higher than the Broncos’.  However, it’s mostly a coin flip in deciding which unit is better in the AFC West.  Both units will be able to keep their quarterbacks upright during the season.

I would guess that the Chargers are going to make a strong effort to solidify their right tackle position during the 2023 offseason.  It’s in many cases the last missing piece of their offense, so perhaps the Broncos should be watching their every move soon.
