The five most important people in the Broncos organization

2. George Paton, GM

After John Elway stepped away from his duties as General Manager, virtually no one in Broncos Country could predict what would happen next, and I don’t think a person could have predicted what George Paton has done for the team so far.

His 2021 draft appears to be stellar.  Not only that, he was able to bring back and sign some very good players, making his free agency track record thus far stellar.  The biggest move of his short tenure was trading for Russell Wilson, which has effectively set the Broncos up for many years to come.

George Paton turned this franchise completely around, and I don’t think he’s close to being done.  It’s clear that Paton knows how to draft players.  He appears to have had a good first two free agency periods, and he’s also shown the ability to make killer trades.

Someone as well-rounded as Paton is hard to come by in the NFL.  Even the most veteran and trusted General Managers struggle with a couple of things, but George Paton looks to have it all locked down pretty well.

He’s likely to sustain success as the GM of the Denver Broncos and keep the team near the top of the NFL.
