The five most important people in the Denver Broncos organization

4. Patrick Surtain II, CB

When the Denver Broncos elected to select Patrick Surtain II over Justin Fields and Mac Jones in the 2021 NFL Draft, many in Broncos Country were left scratching their heads.  “How could the Broncos select a cornerback over a quarterback,” they asked.

Well, it seems as if Denver made the right choice.  Surtain played about as good as a rookie could have played.  His sound technique quickly carried over into the NFL as he became already one of the 10 best cornerbacks in football.

Being that the NFL has become a pass-first league, teams are needing to invest more in the defensive side of the ball, especially in the secondary.  Surtain will prove to be an incredibly valuable player for the Broncos, and a Pro Bowl season in 2022 is likely.

Denver is eventually going to make Patrick Surtain II one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in football, and he’ll likely deserve every penny.  His importance to the team, skill level, and playing a premium position has made him one of the most important people in the organization.
