Broncos final roster prediction No. 3: Backup QB

This is another one that could certainly go either way as there are two trains of thought.

In Josh Johnson, the Broncos have an experienced veteran who has an extensive resume that stretches across half of the teams in the NFL and three other professional leagues. He could also be the right guy to help Russell Wilson with film study and gameday preparation.

In Brett Rypien, the Broncos have a younger player that they could continue to develop and he could become the team’s main backup to Wilson and should there ever be a need, a player that the team could count on to come in for a relief appearance.

Both quarterbacks had their moments in the preseason and this will likely be a tough decision for Paton to make. But in the end, Rypien may have shown enough good that the risk of a team desperate for quarterback help will scoop him up the second he hits waivers.

Prediction: Brett Rypien beats out Josh Johnson for the No. 2 QB spot
