The Denver Broncos might not be the favorites to win the AFC West, but there are three clear advantages the team has going into the season.

Most divisions in the NFL are not being run away by a single team. Most teams do have an advantage or two over certain teams in their division. This remains true for the Denver Broncos being in the AFC West.

I think it’s important to be fair to the team here. Would I put $100 down on the Broncos winning the division this year? Probably not. But would I feel confident in saying the team has a few advantages over their division rivals? Most definitely. To be honest, I think the three biggest advantages the Broncos have are incredibly important too.

I don’t think they’re unimportant, and I could see them benefitting the Broncos in a big way in 2022.

3 distinct advantages the Denver Broncos have in the AFC West

They have the most experienced and winning quarterback

Russell Wilson’s experience is far and away greater than any of the other rival quarterbacks in the division. Both Derek Carr and Justin Herbert haven’t played as many seasons as Wilson, and they have losing records in the regular season.

Patrick Mahomes has won a ton of games, but he doesn’t have the full resume that Wilson has.  Mahomes will likely get there soon, but he just needs to play more.

Russell Wilson has 16 games of playoff experience, and 158 games of regular season experience.  He’s got a career regular season winning percentage of over 65 percent, and he’s led his teams to double-digit wins in the regular season in eight of his 10 years in the league.

He’s both won and lost Super Bowls, and he’s done everything else in between in the playoffs.

He’s also been in tight division races, won and lost those, and has only had one losing season in his career.

There really aren’t enough good things to say about Russell Wilson. His experience is going to propel the Broncos to immediate success.
