How many times are the Denver Broncos in the spotlight in 2022?
The Denver Broncos have become one of the most desirable teams with Russell Wilson. How many primetime slots do they get in the 2022 season?
For the last five years, the Denver Broncos haven’t gotten many primetime games, and for good reason. The team was a regular guest during primetime NFL game hours, but years of poor quarterback play prevented them from returning to that. Now that they have Russell Wilson, that has changed.
So, how big a piece of the primetime pie did the Denver Broncos get in 2022?
Well, let’s start with the most common 1:00 PM ET (11:00 AM MT) slot games.
Believe it or not, the Broncos won’t have a 1:00 PM game until after their bye week in week 10. Their first 1:00 PM game is week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. They will play four of these games in 2022, with others coming against the Panthers, Ravens, and Chiefs.
Their week 18 game against the Chargers does not have a time yet, but that game is likely going to be a primetime slot.
The next most common timeslot for games is the 4:05/4:25 PM ET time slot. The Broncos have six of these games so far in 2022, with their first one coming in week two against the Houston Texans. Their most notable late window game here is a Christmas Day game against the Los Angeles Rams in week 16.
The Broncos also play a game in London, week eight, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. I guess this could technically be a primetime game. It starts at 9:30 AM Eastern Standard Time. This is the team’s last game before their bye week, which comes in week nine.
The last timeslot for games is the 8:15/8:20 PM timeslot games, which are the Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night games.
The Denver Broncos will have five of these games in 2022, two games on Sunday Night, two games on Monday night, and the standard Thursday night game. For those like myself who live on the other side of the country, it’s nice that the NFL decided to give the Denver Broncos a good bit of nationally televised games in 2022.
One of the things I don’t like about the schedule is the air miles that the Broncos have to travel, and the inconsistency with the timeslots.
As I mentioned above, they won’t have a 1:00 PM game until week 10, and their first seven games are either the 4:05/4:25 PM timeslot or the 8:15/8:20 PM timeslot.
However, I do think we fans would prefer that the team has a ton of primetime games because that only means the team is in a good spot.
