Now that the first preseason game is in the books, each NFL team will have to trim their rosters from 90 players down to 85 by the Tuesday deadline.

The Broncos were victorious in their preseason opener, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 17-7 on Saturday night. But before they take on the Buffalo Bills this Saturday, they will have to let five players go. After that game, another five will be cut loose.

The Broncos have several players who are fighting for roster spots and most of them put their best foot forward against the Cowboys. Trimming this roster, even these first five cuts, is not going to be an easy task for Nathaniel Hackett and his staff.

But here, I am going to take my shot at predicting which five guys will be looking to continue their careers elsewhere. These will be players who the team likely won’t even have plans for on the practice squad, as that 16-man group will likely be comprised of some of the final players cut when the team gets down to its 53-man roster.

Predicting first five roster cuts for Broncos: Casey Tucker, Offensive Lineman

Despite being in just his fourth NFL season, Casey Tucker has been a well-traveled offensive lineman. This is his second stint with the Broncos, but he is just buried on the depth chart and won’t figure into the final roster.

The Broncos currently have 17 offensive linemen on the roster, so it is logical to believe they will let go of at least one of them. I also considered undrafted free agent Sebastian Gutierrez in this spot, but the team likely wants to see a little bit more out of him and potentially give him a chance to make the practice squad.

Tucker has played for four different teams and in addition to his two stints in Denver, he has had four separate stints with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has appeared in one regular season game in his career.
