3. Do whatever it takes to keep Russell Wilson happy
In the NFL, if you don’t have a franchise quarterback, you aren’t a relevant team and you won’t win a ton of games.
The Broncos just dealt with this, and now that they have one, and an elite one at that, they must do whatever it takes to keep him happy and in Denver.
If Russell Wilson wants to have a bit of a say in offensive personnel decisions, I think you let him. If he wants $50 million per year in his next contract, I think you give it to him. If he wants to throw the ball more and play to his strengths, I think you let him do that.
I’m not saying Russell Wilson has to be the final decision maker in the Broncos’ organization, but the man does deserve to have his voice consistently heard.
Starting in 2022, we should hopefully see Nathaniel Hackett and the rest of the offensive staff craft offenses and call plays to Wilson’s strengths.
After the season, we should hopefully see the front office offer him a massive contract extension to lock him into Denver for years to come.
And as we approach the 2023 NFL Draft, we should hope that George Paton and the scouting department get Russell Wilson’s opinion on who he thinks the Broncos should draft for the offense, and perhaps even players to target in free agency.
