Denver Broncos training camp Day 10 standout no. 2: Nik Bonitto, EDGE

This wasn’t the first “good” practice that Nik Bonitto had for the Denver Broncos, but it might have been the one where his name seemingly popped up the most.

The top pick has flashed his outstanding burst off the snap throughout practice, but it’s tough for edge players to really show out when you have just three padded practices within the first week-plus of camp.

On Day 10, Bonitto made the most of his reps.

Despite the fact that Randy Gregory likely won’t be doing anything out at practices until closer to the start of the regular season, the Denver Broncos really don’t need Bonitto to plan on playing a starting role at this point.

Bradley Chubb, Malik Reed, Baron Browning, and other players will be able to hold down the fort for the “majority” of snaps if Gregory is to miss any time (and he’s not expected to) but there’s no question that Bonitto is going to play a role for this defense.

With his speed and burst off the edge, as well as the versatile role he played at Oklahoma, there will be room for Bonitto in the rotation right away.

He was one of the best pass rushers in all of college football over the last couple of seasons and now he’s got the opportunity to ease into a role in the NFL, doing what he does best out there.

You love to see the rookie have a standout practice out there with the pads on.
