Fringe Broncos players who have improved their roster chances: Montrell Washington, Wide receiver

It was predicted by most that Montrell Washington, a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, was going to make the team. But before Tim Patrick was lost for the year, it was far from a guarantee.

Several players have stepped up with Patrick out but Washington has been a standout in camp since it opened. It seemed that the former Samford wide receiver would be the team’s return specialist in 2022, but he has shown that he can make plays as a wide receiver as well.

He could turn out to be a steal of a pick for the team, something like the Broncos hoped they were getting with fifth-round pick Isaiah McKenzie several years back. Though McKenzie is now a part of the Buffalo Bills, he was a flop in Denver.

Washington has the ability to be the opposite and now it seems that he has gone from a guy who was hoping to make the final roster to a guy who almost certainly will.
