Fringe Broncos players who have improved their roster chances: Eric Saubert, Tight end

Eric Saubert was quiet in his first year with the Broncos and the team was slow to bring him back, opting to first sign Eric Tomlinson through free agency. But he has been tremendous in camp thus far.

Practice sessions have shown an emphasis on the tight end spot, perhaps more than most would have anticipated, and Saubert has made the most of it.

It’s clear that Albert Okwuegbunam and Greg Dulcich will be the team’s top two tight ends, but Saubert could easily leave Tomlinson in the dust as far as the No. 3 spot is concerned.

Saubert will be asked to come on as a blocking tight end but he has shown throughout camp to be an option in the passing game as well, perhaps better than most would have thought.

With another solid week of camp, Saubert could wrap up the No. 3 tight end spot and secure a second season with the Broncos.
