Denver Broncos shouldn’t sign these players with Tim Patrick out: Odell Beckham, Jr

When Odell Beckham, Jr signed with the Rams, the NFL world lost their minds.  OBJ did enjoy a nice stretch of play in LA, capping it off with a Super Bowl ring.

Beckham tore his ACL in the Super Bowl and likely will not be able to return to the field until November or December.

For many reasons, it does not make much sense to sign OBJ.

First reason is the one I just mentioned; he isn’t likely going to give you more than a few games in 2022, and it’ll take him time to feel comfortable coming back from such a major injury.  Courtland Sutton was clearly not 100% when he returned from his ACL.

Secondly, Odell Beckham Jr’s shine has faded a bit, and I think people within Broncos Country who want the team to sign Beckham are too focused on his name and not the product that he puts on the field.

Over the last five seasons, from 2017-2021, OBJ has played in 53 of a possible 81 games.  He’s missed quite a bit of time to injury.  Moreover, his yards per game dropped from 92.8 from 2014-2018 to 51.1 from 2019-2021.

Put simply, he just isn’t the same player, and I think the Denver Broncos will have to pay him more than they would like if they want him on their team.  I also don’t see much of a fit with the Broncos either.  Beckham would likely be the fourth option, and I don’t anticipate him being OK with that.

There are a few options out there at receiver for the Denver Broncos to sign, but these three players would not make a ton of sense.
