The Denver Broncos will be without Tim Patrick for 2022, who tore his ACL. The team should stay away from these free agent receivers that they could sign.

Tragedy has struck the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, as wide receiver Tim Patrick will miss the 2022 season with a torn ACL.  This was during a play in which he made quite the catch and ended up falling to the ground in what was an unfortunate non-contact injury.

Tim Patrick’s NFL story is nothing short of outstanding, so it’s beyond sad to see this happen to such a good player and strong leader.

Right now, the Broncos are still with Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and KJ Hamler, who are the three most likely candidates to fill the top of the depth chart.

Rookie draft pick Montrell Washington has made a name for himself so far, and there may be others who could take advantage of a possible new opportunity in front of them, like Travis Fulgham.

If the Denver Broncos do indeed bring in a veteran receiver, there are a few they should stay away from.

Denver Broncos shouldn’t sign these players with Tim Patrick out: TY Hilton

The first free agent the Denver Broncos should not sign with Tim Patrick out is former Colts’ receiver TY Hilton.

Hilton turns 33 this season and has been in the league since 2012, accumulating five seasons of 1,000 plus receiving yards, leading the league in this category in 2016.

TY Hilton stayed mostly healthy during the first several seasons of his career, but has missed 14 games since 2019, missing seven in 2021.

Moreover, Hilton is the virtual polar opposite of receiver from Tim Patrick.  Hilton is 5’10” and would be far from the massive 6’4″ body that Patrick is.

The Broncos already have the same type of player in KJ Hamler, who is mostly back from his ACL injury he suffered last season.

TY Hilton is a notable name, but Denver already has his skillset on the roster and should stay away from his services.
