Quarterbacks for Broncos to consider if they are cut: Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are another team with a very clear-cut situation at starting quarterback with Dak Prescott, but the backup position could be up for grabs.

Cooper Rush is the team’s incumbent backup and will need to be unseated, but that could happen. Will Grier is also on the Cowboys’ roster and has been sharing reps with Rush in team practices thus far. He’s looked good in doing so.

If Grier were to beat out Rush and the Cowboys waived Rush, as they did prior to the start of the 2020 season, the Broncos could consider claiming him as their new backup.

Rush has stepped up when called upon. In his lone start for the Cowboys last season in place of an injured Prescott, he threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns, including a late game-winner against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.

He should be considered the favorite over Grier, but should he lose that battle and be placed on waivers, the Broncos should consider him.
