Three most overrated players on the Denver Broncos: G Dalton Risner

Dalton Risner is a fan favorite and hometown kid, but his performance over the last two seasons does not give me confidence that he will be in the opening lineup come week one.

Dalton Risner had his best season during his rookie year, playing in a similar offense that the Denver Broncos will run in 2021.

However, Risner wasn’t exactly that good in 2019, but he was good as a rookie.

According to PFF, Risner allowed four sacks in 2021, a career-high total.  While allowing four sacks isn’t exactly terrible, based on his prior seasons, Risner has regressed.

In watching the Broncos in 2021, I did observe quite a few times Risner completely whiffing on blocks and ending up on his bum more times than he should.

The Denver Broncos added Billy Turner, Tom Compton, Luke Wattenberg, and recently Cameron Fleming to the offensive line unit.

The first three players can all play on the inside, and with Quinn Meinerz likely solidifying the right guard spot for 2022, I think there is a good chance that Dalton Risner is bounced from his left guard spot, and dealt for 2023 draft capital.

We also cannot forget about the return of Graham Glasgow.  I do not like Risner’s chances in 2022, and I think the fanbase overrates him.
