Jonathan Kongbo is an interesting story as he looks to establish himself with the Denver Broncos

The 26-year-old finds himself back on an NFL roster after being released by the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 after suffering a groin injury early in the season.

Kongbo never saw a snap with the 49ers as the 2020 preseason got canceled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The defensive end did see on-field action after his release, joining the Blue Bombers, a CFL team where he was drafted in the first round in 2019.

Before his days in the CFL, the 6’5″ defensive end showed untapped potential at Tennessee, appearing in 23 games, totaling 51 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions including a pick-six.

The only thing standing in Kongbo’s way is an injured past as it’s why he eventually got released by the 49ers. It will be interesting to see if the edge rusher can stay healthy and live up to the potential witnessed at Tennessee to make the 53-man roster.
