Broncos’ best-kept secrets: Jonathan Kongbo, Defensive end

This is a player that is a complete unknown but general manager George Paton thought enough of him to give him a shot following a stint in the CFL that saw him be part of a two-time Grey Cup winner with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

He was a first-round pick of the Blue Bombers.

Kongbo played at Tennessee but injuries held him back from ever realizing his true potential. This will be the second time that Kongbo has signed with an NFL team as the San Francisco 49ers gave him a shot in 2020, but he didn’t make the team.

The Broncos brought him in for a workout this offseason and Paton signed him to a futures deal. He will be asked to do one thing and that is to put pressure on the quarterback, an area where the Broncos are brimming with talent.

Kongbo can get after the quarterback and he has the speed and agility to become a real force on the football field. Will there be enough room for him on the roster? That is a big question, but he could absolutely be a player the team stashes for future use.
