Denver Broncos Cornerback Michael Ojemudia

Cornerback Michael Ojemudia had a strong start to his career in 2020 with 62 tackles, six passes defended, and four forced fumbles. Yep, four forced fumbles. That was tied with 11 players for third in the entire league that season.

Ojemudia fell out of favour with Vic Fangio and was benched with the following explanation to the corner:

"“When he decided to go with the other lineup,” Ojemudia said on Tuesday. “He just straight up told me that, ‘The other lineup is going to be better for this game. I’m not down on you. I know what kind of player you can be. Just when you get back on the field, show us what you can do.’” — Broncos cornerback Michael Ojemudia on then-head coach Vic Fangio’s explanation on why he was benched (via Broncos PR)"

It remains to be seen where Ojemudia will end up on the team’s depth chart, with Patrick Surtain II, Ronald Darby, and K’Waun Williams protected to be the top-3 at the position.

The battle between Ojemudia and someone such as Essang Bassey and rookie Damarri Mathis is an intriguing one to watch.

I personally hope that Ojemudia shines in training camp and shows the new coaching staff that he deserves to play a significant role on the defense.
