Denver Broncos wide receiver K.J. Hamler is being placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to last year’s ACL injury.

Denver Broncos wide receiver K.J. Hamler suffered a torn ACL during the 2021 regular season game against the New York Jets and missed the remainder of the season. The team is taking things slow with Hamler in his recovery.

General Manager George Paton said Tuesday that the team is placing a number of players on the Phsyically Unable to Perform list, including Hamler.

Oftentimes, a player can come off the physically unable to perform list a little too soon and end up making things worse for himself. The Broncos are doing their best to avoid that from happening.

The move seems a little bit surprising given that in April, he was deemed “well ahead of schedule.”

The good news is that it’s only the first day of camp, and there will be plenty of time for him to get practices in and get back into playing shape.

Unfortunately, Hamler has dealt with a plethora of injuries throughout his football career.

Despite Hamler missing even more time, I am still optimistic that he and quarterback Russell Wilson will connect and be on the same page and get proper timing down on passes. That’s one of the toughest things to do.

K.J. Hamler’s absence gives other Denver Broncos receivers opportunities…

The wide receiver position for the Denver Broncos will consist of Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, and, well… who else?

There will be competitions brewing throughout training camp and as far as many are concerned, the fifth and sixth wideout spots are up for grabs.

Some of the guys trying to earn that spot are Tyrie Cleveland, Seth Williams, Montrell Washington (rookie), rookie Jalen Virgil, Trey Quinn, Travis Fulgham, and Kendall Hinton.

I’m sure that whoever grabs on to the final wideout spot for the Broncos will have some return duties on special teams.
