#3 Denver Broncos player in Madden 23: Wide Receiver Courtland Sutton, 84 overall

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton did not have an increase in his Madden rating from last year. Unfortunately, last season’s quarterback situation for the Broncos could have had an impact on Sutton and every other wideout on the team’s rating in Madden 23.

Sutton came back from a torn ACL from 2020 into 2021 and put up 776 receiving yards just two touchdowns on 58 receptions.

The thing about Sutton is, we know what he can be. Unfortunately, he was not able to put up a 1,000-yard season with Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock throwing him the football last year. In 2019, he had a stellar season, putting up over 1,100 yards, six touchdowns, and 72 receptions on 124 targets.

The quarterback throwing him the ball was… Joe Flacco.

Like fellow wide receiver teammate Tim Patrick, Sutton can go up top and catch high-thrown passes due to his 6-foot-4 frame.

We’re not going to kid ourselves and say Sutton is a burner at the wide receiver position. He’s not the fastest receiver and EA gave him a speed rating of 91, which isn’t actually that bad.

He received a catch rating of 92.  He has 16 drops on 312 targets, a drop percentage of 5.1282 percent.

I can’t stress enough that the quarterback throwing the football matters. Sutton will have a higher catch rating by the end of the season. I guarantee it.
